Brrr… we just returned to Montana from the sunny beaches of Mexico after Christmas vacation in Sayulita, Nayarit.

Sayulita is a small town about 40 miles north of Puerto Vallarta that has managed to avoid the resort town development evident in Vallarta. The food was amazing, the locals kind and helpful, and the weather was sunny and hot.

My daughter hitches a ride with a dolphin!

Watching pelicans fly by.

The beach.

Our front porch, Christmas morning.

Heading for the surf.

Viva Mejico! Y viva la revolucion comenzado por Pancho Villa! Mexico, our great neighbors to the south. Actually, pretty much the only ones we have left in the Hispanic world thanks to fifty years of U.S. sponsored rightwing terrorism! It’s a damn shame what we’ve done in Latin America. Who can blame them for now turning away from us and creating alliances with the rest of the world. Oh, and Viva Chavez! And Viva la memoria de Che! Porque Che todavia vive!

Welcome Back,
It looks like a lot of fun! It looks likes
you stayed at a resort, verdad? Would you
recommend it? And by way of welcoming you
back to the ever present fact checkers here
in the blogosphere, I believe those are

Thanks TMM, and yes, those are pelicans! We stayed in a condo, town regulations prevent the construction of resorts (limited to 3 stories and 10 rooms, I believe). I highly recommend Sayulita. And no, I did not use sun screen Montana Fem, therefore I have a nice sunburn. Mexico is truly a mixture of the best and worst our world has to offer, all within yards of each other. But more on that later…

There are more pelicans than that on a quarter-mile of the Madison River, you dumb shit.
